International House is divided into 11 buildings or 'towers'. Towers A to I are for undergraduate students and Towers J and K are for post graduate and mature aged undergraduate students (25 years and over). Each Tower consists of  5 to 6 levels. Each floor of each tower (for undergraduate students) houses 4 to 5 residents with a shared bathroom facility (shower, toilet and hand basin). Towers J and K house 4 students per level with each bedroom/study area having an ensuite bathroom. An elevated walkway connects all buildings at level 2.  The towers accommodate approximately 20 residents with the exception of Tower G which houses 50 residents.

Every floor of each tower houses both male and female students and represent a mix of nationalities. There are no single sex floors or towers. Each tower has a Senior Resident (located on Level 2) to offer pastoral care and to help residents at all times.

The student rooms at International House are large, indeed the largest on the UQ campus. All study bedrooms are for single occupancy, have ample storage space, and contain a desk and chair, single bed, bookcase or book shelves. They are equipped with mattress, pillow, doona (with cover), and a blanket. A set of bed linen is provided for undergraduate residents. Linen  is changed and the room cleaned once per week. The rooms, some of which have a balcony, have both natural lighting and good ventilation. They are not air-conditioned but each is fitted with a wall heater. Every bedroom also has a telephone and Internet connection.  Click for the list of optional items you may wish to bring or purchase. A post box is designated to each resident for mail deliveries.

On level 2 of all undergraduate towers there is a common room utilised by residents for socialising. Many of these rooms have a kitchen and/or study area, television and a fireplace.

Towers J and K are apartments for post-graduate and mature aged undergraduate students. There are 5 apartments per tower with 4 ensuited bedrooms (except Apartment 2 which has three bedrooms) on each level. Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom (shower, hand basin and toilet). Your room is equipped with mattress, doona with cover and pillow. You need to provide a set of single sheets and a pillow case. The kitchen, dining, and lounge room is shared by the four residents in each apartment. The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and cleaning equipment.
