Each year International House offers up to two (2) Chartwell’s Housie Scholarships in the amount of $5,000 to be awarded to one (1) international and one (1) domestic resident.

In partnership with Chartwells – Compass Group’s education brand, The IH Award Program introduces an annual Scholarship aimed at supporting residents who are studying courses including but not limited to, hospitality, food sciences, event services, marketing, business, and management.

Chartwells specialises in providing hospitality services to schools and universities and supports International House’s vision is to create a global community of connected, capable and compassionate young leaders.

Value

The Chartwell’s Housie Scholarship will have a maximum value of $5,000 (per Scholarship) which will be paid as a reduction in International House college fees.

Eligibility

To be eligible applicants must:

  • be a returning resident
  • be enrolled as a full-time student in an undergraduate university program
  • be able to participate in a selection panel interview
  • remain enrolled in full-time study for Semester 1 and Semester 2 in the year of Award
  • remain a resident of International House for Semester 1 and Semester 2 in the year of Award
  • maintain a GPA of 4.5 or above for Semester 1 and Semester 2 in the year of Award

Selection criteria

Applicants are reviewed on:

  • academic results
  • the relevance of tertiary study field – students participating in courses including, but not limited to, hospitality, food sciences, event services, marketing, business, and management
  • leadership skills and development
  • demonstrated cross-cultural participation and engagement

How to apply

Applicants should provide:

  • Submit a personal statement (one A4 page maximum) outlining your field of study, your aspirations and career goals for the future, and why staying at International House with the support of an IH/Academy Services Scholarship will help you achieve these.
  • Include College involvement and participation, leadership evidence, personal and professional development.
  • Submit evidence to support the selection criteria as appropriate. (Attach supporting documents such as letters of reference, certificate of participation etc.)
