ASSOCIATE MEMBER PROGRAM 2013
The Associate Member program has been designed to
support non-residential University students but who would like to participate
in some aspects of college life but do not reside at International House. IH has a diverse population with our students
and staff coming from all over Australia and the world.
There are two membership options:

Pastoral support – All residents
are welcome to speak to the Director and Deputy about academic and personal
issues. Senior Residents are also employed to provide support to residents. |

Academic Support
Program- International House runs weekly tutorials. Associate members are
welcome to participate in this program. Tutorials begin in week 4 of each
semester. Classes are held normally in the evenings. |
Orientation Week – An organized
week of activities which will assist residents adjust to college and
university life. Events such as but not limited to Faculty and Tower Dinners,
college parties and Welcome Ceremony helps residents adjust to the new
environment. |

Cross cultural
focus – each Tuesday evening the college organizes a host of cultural event
whereby residents are able to participate in such as African Drums, wine
tasting, Capoeira, Mid-Autumn Festival and etc. |
International
House Student Club - Associate members are entitled to participate in
activities organized by student club. Mad Hatters Tea Party, IH Ball, Sunday
Supper and college parties are a few examples of events that associate
members are welcome to get involved in. |

Peace and
Understanding activities and Bara Khanas (formal dinners) –Our college
holds an annual Peace and Understanding activity. Past speakers include Ian
Conway and Geraldine Cox. Bara Khanas
are held on a monthly basis to celebrate our traditions – candle and flag
ceremony, diversity of cultures. A guest speaker is also featured in each
dinner. Associate members would be able to attend a number of dinners as part
of the program. |

Social and
cultural program - International House enjoys a close relationship
with other colleges. This part of the program is vital for associate members
as they are able to meet other students. Associate members are not able to
participate in the ICC sporting and ICC cultural competitions but are very
welcome to be part of the support team. |

Professional
evening- A host of professional evenings such as law, engineering, science
and etc are conducted throughout the year. These evenings consists of alumni
speaking about their field of expertise. It encourages networking and
provides an insight to the working world. |

|
Meal Vouchers – 20 meals in our dining hall at meal times.
Opportunity to purchase more meal voucher ($7.70) is available in the office. |
